Vital Wifi provide services to many of the top hospitality brands across the UK whilst our global presence in the offshore industry means our services are relied upon all day, every day. Based in our Andover office, the Wi-Fi Network Support Technician is a specialist position that covers a wide range of tasks, from configuring firewalls and new systems, troubleshooting network issues or even wireless surveys. You’ll be part of our Operations Team, reporting in to the Operations Director. The Vital Wifi support team will handle 1st line support queries and you will be the first point of escalation. This will be to deal with specialist queries that require a much more in depth level of investigation. You will be involved in the design, configuration and testing of new wireless systems before they are installed on customer sites. This will include routers, switches, Wireless Access Points, monitoring of the network, connectivity solutions, building the management portal according to the customer requirements and documentation. Due to our global presence, you will be required to occasionally work out of hours and provide remote assistance for installation teams. There will also be an on call rota which will require you to be on call for 1 week out of 3. There will be an occasional requirement for National and International travel.

The Network Support Technician will be responsible for dealing with specialist enquiries and configurations of wireless networking systems

There are various factors this could cover and the ideal candidate would have knowledge of networking, Mikrotik Router OS, switching, Wireless Networks and monitoring systems such as PRTG. Vital Wifi specialise in providing services according to the customer requirement, so a broad knowledge of different vendors such as Mikrotik, Ruckus, Cisco, Meraki, Extreme Networks and UniFi would be ideal. Vital Wifi provide a fully managed service to our venues so it is important that the candidate has some experience of using monitoring systems, not just to ensure our sites are operating at the high standard of quality our customers expect but also to take a pro-active approach and prevent issues before they occur. Monitoring is a key factor to our business, with a high number of our sites being offshore our services are heavily relied on by crew requiring to keep in touch with friends and family back home.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, VPN
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Can do attitude
  • Competent with IT systems and applications
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Experience of working in a similar role or a technical environement


The ideal candidate would preferably have:

  • Knowledge of using Cisco, Ruckus, Extreme Networks and UniFi networking equipment
  • Experience of building and managing servers on VMWare
  • Experience of working with an ISP or WISP
  • Mikrotik MTCNA
